What is Beem?
With Beem you can send money securely and quickly via text message on your mobile. You can load your Beem account up with money from your debit card or ask friends and family to Beem money to you. You can also upload money from your Beem account back into your bank account.
Has the Beem SMS gateway number changed from 07781 48 46 68?
Yes, Beem has recently changed our SMS gateway to a new provider to improve even further the performance and reliability we provide to you, unfortunately, this has meant we have had to change our SMS number. You should now send all of you SMS commands to our new number on 07624 81 66 66. You can continue to use the old number for now, but this will eventually be phased out.
What can Beem be used for?
Beem enables you to securely transfer money to and from your bank account, pay for goods and services, buy prepay top ups and send money to friends and family on any network or handset from anywhere in the world. The network of businesses taking Beem is growing week by week.
How much does it cost?
Beem is a free service, we earn money from taking a small commission from goods purchased. The only charge which applies to individuals is the cost of the text message at your normal network operator rate and 75 pence only when uploading money back into your bank account.
Can anyone use Beem?
Yes. Anyone with a mobile phone and you don't even need a bank account. If you don't have a bank account friends and family can Beem cash to you.
Does Beem need a special type of phone or handset?
No. All mobile phones are suitable old and new.
Can I use Beem on any network provider?
Yes. All networks are suitable, if you can text you can Beem.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Your money stays safe, as it is protected by your personal Beem passwords. This is called 2 and 3 factor authentication and ensures the highest level of security. We recommend you treat Beem with the same level of respect you would your debit / credit card and personal bank details, and ALWAYS DELETE text messages you send to Beem.
Will Beem change or affect the functionality of my phone?
No. There's no extra software or downloads, Beem only uses text messages.
How do I prevent someone form accessing my mobile money?
Your personal Beem password and debit card password are required to access your mobile money, so be sure not to pass them on to anyone. ALWAYS DELETE all texts you send to Beem.
What happens if I’m a pre-pay user and have no credits?
Simply use Beem’s online access and manage your mobile money securely there.
What happens if my contract phone has been cut off, how do I access my mobile money?
No problem, while your phone is cut off your mobile money remains safe. Once you have re-enabled your phone and mobile number through your network operator your can access your mobile money again.
What happens if I change my number?
Simply register with Beem from your new number and Beem your mobile money across to your new number.
Does Beem only work with certain banks?
Beem works with all banks. You can load your Beem account using any debit card.
Is Beem secure?
Yes. Beem is PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliant and works to the same security standards as your high street banks.
What happens if my text message fails?
Then your mobile money stays with you.
What happens if my mobile is turned off?
You can still receive mobile money when your phone is turned off, and you will receive the confirmation text message once you turn your phone back on.
Can I view my payment history?
Yes - via Beem’s online access.
Can anyone else view my payments?
Not without having your mobile phone and your passwords.
What happens to my money once I’ve loaded it onto Beem?
It sits in your Beem account ready for you to use.
What’s the online access?
Online access to your Beem account is an optional facility which allows you to track and maintain the contents of your Beem account. You can edit personal and financial details, view your text and transaction history and maintain your Beem phonebook contacts.
What happens if I’ve forgotten my Beem password?
You just need to let us know by texting 'support' I have forgotten my Beem password to Beem at 07781 484668.
A member of the Beem support team will contact you within 24 hours to verify your security details in order to reset your password.
What happens if I've forgotten my debit card password?
For security reasons your debit card password cannot be reset by Beem support, if you forget this password you need to delete your debit card and re-add it with a new password.
